Dillon Cox is a Dobson High School graduate who has moved back to Arizona two years ago. He started playing volleyball his junior year of high school, and as a late bloomer, quickly excelled. Dillon was honored to be named to the all-state team his senior year. Upon graduating from high school, he was recruited to play at San Diego Mesa College and started as a freshman. After one year of playing at SDM, he realized beach was his passion and transitioned to the outdoor game. Dillon's first year playing beach, he received an "A" rating and his second year got his "AAA" rating. Since receiving his "AAA" rating, Dillon has competed in the Southwest region for the AVP Next series and travels to every major AVP event during the beach season. He was invited to coach at Coast volleyball club under his mentor; Ted Summers-Torres and Dillon considers himself blessed to assist under such an amazing coach on the boys Coast 17-1 team. He also served as an assistant coach on the 15-2s team. Because of his experience in sand, he helped run the beach program under Derek Olsen who plays in the AVP. The two years Dillon spent in San Diego helped him improve profoundly as a coach and a player.
